Job Title: Consultant in Psychiatry Learning Disabilities

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant in Psychiatry Learning Disabilities to join our team at Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust. As a Consultant, you will be responsible for providing senior medical input and clinical leadership to our Learning Disabilities team, working closely with other clinicians to deliver high-quality care to our patients.

About the Role

The successful candidate will have excellent clinical skills, knowledge, and experience in child and adolescent psychiatry, with a strong background in learning disabilities. You will be responsible for assessing new referrals, providing consultation to non-medical clinicians, and offering ongoing management for patients requiring longer-term care. You will also be expected to provide high-quality specialist clinical assessments, including relevant psychiatric and physical investigations, and work collaboratively with other members of the team to plan and deliver appropriate individually tailored treatment plans.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide senior medical input and clinical leadership to the LD team
  • Assess new referrals, provide consultation to non-medical clinicians, and offer ongoing management for patients requiring longer-term care
  • Provide high-quality specialist clinical assessments, including relevant psychiatric and physical investigations
  • Work collaboratively with other members of the team to plan and deliver appropriate individually tailored treatment plans
Person Specification
  • MB BS or equivalent medical qualification
  • MRCPsych or equivalent
  • CCT in child and adolescent psychiatry or equivalent
  • Qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research, or management
  • Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practise at the time of appointment
  • Included on the GMC Specialist Register OR within six months
  • Approved clinician status OR able to achieve within 3 months of appointment
  • Approved under S12 OR able to achieve within 3 months of appointment
