Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Specialty Doctor / Senior Clinical Fellow to join our dynamic Ophthalmology Service within Hywel Dda University Health Board. This is an exciting opportunity to develop your role within our enthusiastic team, who believe in leading from the frontline to provide outstanding care to our community.

Main Duties

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering and supporting the Welsh Government's vision for NHS Wales. They will work closely with colleagues to develop and implement clinical and managerial leadership within the Ophthalmology service. The role will involve dealing with a wide range of ophthalmic diagnoses, high-volume cataract surgery, IVT, and emergency eye casualty.

We provide primary, community, in-hospital, mental health, and learning disabilities services for around 384,000 people across a quarter of the landmass of Wales.

Job Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Contributing to the 1:7 on-call rota during the week and 1:7 on the weekends
  • Working closely with colleagues to develop and implement clinical and managerial leadership within the Ophthalmology service
  • Dealing with a wide range of ophthalmic diagnoses, high-volume cataract surgery, IVT, and emergency eye casualty
Person Specification

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Full GMC Registration with Licence to practice
  • Valid Certified Advanced Life Support Skills
  • 4 years full-time postgraduate training (or part-time equivalent) in a relevant specialty
  • MBBS or recognised equivalent
