Children and Young People Support Specialist

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Children and Young People Support Specialist to join our team in Wakefield. If you are passionate about making a positive impact in the lives of children, young people, and their families, especially during times of crisis, we would love to hear from you.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide tailored support to Children, Young People, and Families in need, including those in crisis situations
- Deliver immediate crisis intervention and emotional support to individuals facing difficult circumstances
- Work closely with local authorities, schools, and other professionals to ensure holistic care
- Engage families in support plans, helping them to achieve positive outcomes even in high-pressure environments
- Safeguard and promote the welfare of Children and Young People, particularly during emergencies
- Work in accordance with local and national safeguarding policies
Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years of experience working with Children, Young People, or Families in a support role, with experience in crisis intervention preferred
- NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent) is desirable
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, especially in high-stress situations
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, maintaining a calm and supportive approach in emergencies
- A good understanding of safeguarding principles
- Enhanced DBS check for children and adults is required
- Ability to provide 3 years of references
