About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Clinical Pharmacist Specialist to join our team at University Hospital Southampton NHS Trust. As a key member of our pharmacy department, you will play a vital role in providing specialist pharmaceutical review of medication for cardiology, cardiac, vascular and thoracic surgery patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide specialist pharmaceutical review of medication for cardiology, cardiac, vascular and thoracic surgery patients
  • Work with the multidisciplinary team to advise on medication for CV&T patients to optimise their care
  • Deliver education and training to a wide range of healthcare professionals working within CV&T
  • Contribute to department-wide audit, research, risk management and clinical governance
  • Develop guidelines to ensure safe prescribing practice
Requirements
  • Masters Degree in Pharmacy
  • GPhC registration
  • Sound knowledge of a surgical or medical speciality acquired working within a suitable specialty
  • Meets Foundation framework/ GLF competencies
  • Audit and evaluative work
  • Sound understanding of healthcare priorities and political agendas
  • Experience of teaching and tutoring
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
  • Postgraduate diploma in clinical pharmacy or equivalent experience
  • MRPharmS or equivalent
  • Working towards RPS Advanced Core portfolio submission
  • Training in medicines information
  • Preparation of prescribing guidelines
