Job Summary

The Vessel Superintendent plays a pivotal role in directing the activities of workers involved in the construction of Sub-Sea oil and gas infrastructure, dams, pipelines, or other construction projects. This position requires strong leadership and organizational skills to ensure the successful execution of projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Interface with clients, clients' third-party representatives, marine personnel, and different OII divisions to orchestrate project execution.
  • Study project specifications to plan and coordinate installation or IMR activities, considering start and completion times, staffing requirements, and phase-by-phase construction.
  • Assist project managers in developing procedures and tooling for Installations or IMR projects.
  • Inform the Operations Manager about the condition of the vessel and OII dock areas in relation to project activities.
  • Act as the principal HSE agent on the vessel for OPG activities, serving as a liaison between OPG and the Marine Division.
  • Direct and supervise riggers and 3rd-party laborers.
  • Confer with and direct supervisory personnel and subcontractors to plan and execute work procedures, interpret specifications, and coordinate project phases and mobilizations.
  • Resolve complaints and grievances within the workforce through collaboration with supervisory personnel and labor representatives.
  • Collaborate with supervisory and engineering personnel, inspectors, and suppliers to resolve installation and mobilization problems and improve methods.
  • Inspect work in progress to ensure adherence to specifications and project schedules.
  • Prepare or review reports on progress, materials used, and costs, adjusting work schedules as indicated by reports.
  • Direct workers involved in major maintenance or reconditioning projects for existing installations.
Safety and Other Responsibilities
  • Ensure that Safety policies and procedures are understood and adhered to, maintaining a safe working environment.
  • Carry out work in accordance with the Company's Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality Systems.
  • Perform assigned tasks with due diligence regarding the Integrated Management Systems.
  • Eliminate waste, suggest environmentally friendly substances and practices, and contribute to environmental improvement.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 5 to 10 years' experience in Deepwater Installations.
  • Offshore survival.
  • Offshore medical.
  • Valid Passport.
  • MMC.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office and internet.
Desired Qualifications
  • One-year certificate from college or technical school or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Working Conditions
  • This position is considered OFFSHORE WORK, characterized by working outdoors and indoors, day and night, as well as over/near water.
  • Requires working on or near moving equipment and vibrating equipment.
  • Frequently exposed to high humidity, noise above 85 decibels, and intense/glare lighting.
  • Potential exposure to open fire/flames/sparks.
  • Constant exposure to airborne dust, fumes, and gases.
  • Work surface is stable, height is elevated.
Physical Activity/Requirements
  • This position is considered HEAVY work.
  • OCCASIONAL: Lift pounds, work in confined spaces, kneel, jump, run, work while lying on his stomach/back, crawl, and use repetitive movements of the arms and hands.
  • FREQUENT: Lift 25-50 pounds, wear PPE for head, hands, climb stairs/ladders, stand, balance, stoop, squat, reach, and lift/carry objects.
  • CONSTANT: Lift 10-20 pounds, standing and walking, wear PPE for body, vision, and hearing protection, steel/safety toed shoes/boots.
