Job Summary

The Vessel Superintendent is responsible for overseeing the construction of Sub-Sea oil and gas infrastructure, dams, pipelines, or other construction projects. This position requires strong leadership and organizational skills to ensure the successful execution of client projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Interface with clients, marine personnel, and OII divisions to coordinate project execution.
  • Study project specifications to plan installation or maintenance activities, ensuring timely completion and adequate resources.
  • Assist project managers in developing procedures and tools for installation or maintenance projects.
  • Maintain open communication with the Operations Manager regarding vessel and OII dock area conditions.
  • Serve as the primary HSE agent on the vessel for OPG activities, liaising with the Marine Division.
  • Supervise riggers and 3rd party laborers, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and project schedules.
  • Collaborate with supervisory personnel and subcontractors to resolve work procedures, interpret specifications, and coordinate project phases.
  • Address complaints and grievances within the workforce, promoting a positive work environment.
  • Resolve installation and mobilization problems with supervisory and engineering personnel, inspectors, and suppliers.
  • Inspect work in progress to ensure adherence to specifications and project schedules.
  • Prepare or review reports on progress, materials used, and costs, adjusting work schedules as necessary.
  • Direct workers involved in major maintenance or reconditioning projects for existing installations.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 5-10 years of experience in Deepwater Installations.
  • Offshore survival and medical certifications.
  • Valid Passport and MMC.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and internet applications.
Preferred Qualifications
  • One-year certificate from college or technical school or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Working Conditions
  • This position involves offshore work, characterised by working outdoors and indoors, day and night, with potential exposure to open fire, flames, sparks, airborne dust, fumes, and gases.
  • Steel/safety-toed shoes/boots are required.
Physical Requirements
  • This position is considered HEAVY work, requiring OCCASIONAL lifting of pounds, work in confined spaces, and use of repetitive movements.
  • FREQUENT lifting of 25-50 pounds, climbing stairs/ladders, and standing.
  • CONSTANT lifting of 10-20 pounds, standing, and walking.
