We are seeking a highly skilled Multidisciplinary Research Expert to join the team at MPOWIR Mentoring Physical Oceanography Women to Increase Retention. This 5-year senior research fellowship offers an exciting opportunity to pursue your own research agenda in fluid mechanics, with a focus on multiphase flows.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in Earth Sciences, Applied Mathematics, or Chemistry, and demonstrate expertise in theoretical, experimental, or numerical approaches to multiphase fluid mechanics. A doctoral degree and significant postdoctoral experience are required, along with excellent communication skills. The level of candidate sought for this position is comparable to those awarded Royal Society Research Fellowships.

A small research fund will be available to support the successful candidate in initiating their research. Although this is a research-focused position, opportunities may arise for teaching involvement within the University, should the candidate wish to do so.

MPOWIR has established partnerships with industry leaders, including BP plc, and has a strong track record of fundamental research in fluid mechanics, particularly in relation to energy and environmental challenges. The selected candidate will undergo a 30-minute research presentation, a panel interview, and meetings with faculty members. The position runs from mid-2019 to mid-2024, with a fixed-term duration subject to discussion.

The estimated annual salary for this position is £60,000 - £80,000, based on the location and industry standards.
