Job Summary:The Assistant Theatre Practitioner will work closely with the theatre team to provide a safe and efficient operating environment for patients undergoing surgery. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting with the preparation and maintenance of the operating theatre, as well as providing support to the theatre team during procedures.
Key Responsibilities:- Assist with the preparation and maintenance of the operating theatre, including setting up equipment and ensuring a clean and safe environment.
- Provide support to the theatre team during procedures, including assisting with patient positioning and providing care to patients during recovery.
- Contribute to the delivery of excellent patient care, including providing information and support to patients and their families.
- Work collaboratively with the theatre team to ensure a smooth and efficient operating environment.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance skills and knowledge.
- GCSE Level 2 (Grade A* - C) or equivalent in English and Mathematics.
- Level 3 in health and social care or equivalent.
- Demonstrable ability to study at Level 5 Diploma of Higher Education Level and commit to completing the Foundation Degree programme.
- Trust Care Certificate or equivalent.
- Completed a recognised Level 5 Diploma of Higher Education Level/Foundation Degree Healthcare programme in health care or equivalent.
- Demonstrable previous experience of providing direct patient care to children and young people, and their families.
- Knowledge and understanding of the health service.
- Providing a safe environment for children.
- Understanding of the scope of the role in context of the team and the organisation, and how the role contributes to service delivery.
- Knowledge and understanding of equality and diversity.
- Evidence of recent work-based learning or self-directed learning.
- Demonstrable previous experience and understanding of recovering a patient post sedation or GA.
- Knowledge and understanding of common sedation contraindications.
- Previous experience in participating in audits, clinical trial programmes and training.
- Experience of co-ordinating and managing patient care.
