About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Advanced Nurse Practitioner to take on the role of Clinical Lead for our Mental Health Response Vehicle and FPCC. This is a unique opportunity to work at the forefront of mental health care, providing expert clinical advice and support to staff delivering the Mental Health Crisis telephone service.

The successful candidate will have significant experience in assessing and treating mental health crises, with a strong background in multi-agency working and collaboration. They will be responsible for providing clinical supervision and education to clinical staff, as well as working closely with other health and social care professionals to assess, treat and monitor management of patients in line with national and local policies and practice needs.

This is a rotational post, requiring the postholder to work on the MHRRV providing a timely face to face response for people who may be experiencing a mental health crisis, improving patient outcomes and experience.

Main Responsibilities
  • To navigate, liaise with and refer onto mental health services, voluntary and public sector agencies and community support groups where least restrictive option can be utilised.
  • To provide specialist advice, supervision and support to emergency services system colleagues in relation to patients with mental health issues in Crises.
  • To work with other health and social care professionals to assess, treat and monitor management of patients in line with national and local policies and practice needs.
  • To provide education, support and supervision to emergency services staff and health care professionals involved in MHRRV service and FPCC.
  • To engage and involve family members, carers in management of response to people in a Mental Health crisis and any ongoing treatment as necessary.
Requirements
  • Significant, recent clinical experience in the assessment of mental health Crises at Band 6 level.
  • Front line experience of using advanced assessment skills especially in determining the nature and severity of mental illness/health (functional and organic) and differentiation between physical and mental health symptoms and conditions.
  • Extensive working knowledge of the makeup of the wider health and social care community including statutory and non-statutory services and direct experience of multi inter-agency working and collaboration.
  • Detailed working knowledge of how specialist mental health services are organised and operate, where and how they fit into the health and social care community.
  • Contemporary experience of working in MH Urgent Care Services ie Crisis, Mental Health Liaison.
  • Experience of providing clinical supervision and education to clinical staff.
