About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist to join our team at University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our Stroke Services team, you will be responsible for the organisation and running of the physiotherapy team, ensuring high-quality standards of care and meeting SSNAP targets and National Clinical Guidelines for Stroke.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the physiotherapy team in HASU & ASU, ensuring a high-quality standard of care.
  • Develop the physiotherapy service in Stroke in response to clinical governance, clinical risk, and clinical effectiveness, based on current guidelines, national initiatives, and current evidence.
  • Ensure services are responsive and accessible, including organisation of the 7-day physiotherapy service rota.
  • Supervise, support, and advise the physiotherapists in their team, enhancing their clinical reasoning and ensuring timely and appropriate transfer along the stroke pathway.
  • Be an expert physiotherapy practitioner for stroke, assessing and treating patients with complex needs (physical, cognitive, and respiratory) and working alongside the MDT to help the patient reach their maximum potential.
  • Accountable for own professional development.
  • Lecture/teach students and qualified staff locally, nationally, and internationally.
  • Lead in research projects, audits, and service evaluations, publishing work as appropriate.
  • Network with other specialist therapists, medical colleagues, special interest groups, and other services, particularly across NCL.
  • Timely and accurate collection and analysis of data (including SSNAP), reflecting the full range of physiotherapy provision within stroke services.
  • Performance management and respond to informal grievances as required.
  • Assist or lead in the recruitment and selection of physiotherapy staff, and other members of the MDT as requested.
