Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Category Management Lead to join our team at Project People. As a key member of our procurement department, you will be responsible for developing and implementing category strategies that drive value-for-money and minimize supplier-related risk.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in procurement, preferably within the construction industry. You will possess excellent commercial skills, including negotiation and contract management. In addition, you will have experience in managing complex projects and facilitating cross-functional planning and action.

You will work closely with internal stakeholders to ensure robust contingencies are in place for critical items and develop relationships with internal and external key stakeholders to ensure procurement governance. The salary for this role is approximately £65,000 per annum, depending on experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement category strategies that align with business objectives
  • Negotiate and manage contracts with suppliers
  • Manage complex projects and facilitate cross-functional planning and action
  • Ensure robust contingencies are in place for critical items
  • Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external key stakeholders

Requirements:

  • 7+ years' experience in a relevant procurement or supply chain environment
  • Experience delivering change and improvement across partnerships and organisational boundaries
  • Ability to design, develop, and manage category sourcing strategies
  • Excellent commercial skills, including negotiation and contract management
  • CIPS membership and accreditation preferred but not essential
