About the Role:

We are seeking an English Specialist Teaching Assistant to join our team at an Ofsted-rated "Good" secondary school in Levenshulme. As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting students' progress in English, both in the classroom and through targeted interventions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the English teacher in delivering lessons, ensuring all students can access the material and engage with the subject.
  • Provide one-to-one or small group support to students who may need extra help with English, focusing on areas such as literacy, comprehension, and exam preparation.
  • Help plan and prepare learning resources, adapting them to suit the needs of individual students or groups.
  • Support students in building their confidence and skills in both written and spoken English, encouraging their participation in class discussions and activities.
  • Monitor students' progress and provide feedback to the class teacher, helping to identify any areas where additional support may be required.
  • Assist with classroom management and promote positive behavior during English lessons and around the school.
  • Offer additional support during exams and assessments, ensuring all students are able to perform to the best of their ability.

Requirements:

  • A strong background in English, either as a recent graduate or someone with a deep understanding of the subject.
  • Previous experience working with students, either in a teaching assistant, tutoring, or mentoring capacity, particularly within English.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex ideas in a clear and engaging manner.
  • A passion for education and helping students achieve their full potential in English.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team, supporting the class teacher and other staff to create a positive and productive learning environment.
