About the Role

Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a highly motivated Medical Laboratory Assistant to join our team in the Microbiology Department at Basingstoke site.

">

The successful candidate will be responsible for processing and analyzing pathology samples using routine and complex diagnostic techniques. This will involve undertaking laboratory investigations and procedures on a rotational basis, performing routine operative maintenance on laboratory instruments, and troubleshooting issues that may arise.

In addition, the role will require maintaining the adequate storage of samples after analysis and their correct disposal at the appropriate time, collecting, sorting, and booking in samples on the Laboratory Information System (WinPath), and processing waste in line with Health & Safety protocols.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process and analyze pathology samples using routine and complex diagnostic techniques.">
  • Undertake laboratory investigations and procedures on a rotational basis as demand requires.">
  • Perform routine operative maintenance on laboratory instruments and undertake corrective maintenance and troubleshooting when necessary.">
  • Maintain the adequate storage of samples after analysis and their correct disposal at the appropriate time.">
  • Collect, sort, and book in samples on the Laboratory Information System (WinPath).">
  • Process waste in line with Health & Safety protocols.">

Salary and Benefits

We offer a competitive salary of £25,677-£31,383 per annum, depending on experience, plus benefits including a generous pension scheme, flexible working hours, and access to training and development opportunities.
