Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Laboratory Specialist to join our team at Thermo Fisher Scientific. As a Laboratory Specialist, you will be responsible for maintaining the laboratory to a high level of safety, efficiency, and cleanliness. This includes ensuring the laboratory is adequately stocked with regularly used consumables and maintaining the AST team bacterial/fungal culture collection.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain the laboratory to a high level of safety, efficiency, and cleanliness.
  • Ensure the laboratory is adequately stocked with regularly used consumables.
  • Maintain the AST team bacterial/fungal culture collection.
  • Conduct routine experiments to support the AST technical team with product development and/or validation.
  • Assist the laboratory team in maintaining equipment such as HPLCs.
  • Ensure the laboratory is constantly improving its processes using PPI and JDIs.
  • Assist with regular audits of the laboratory space to ensure standards are met.

Requirements:

  • Preferred recent qualification through a bachelors degree in Chemistry or equivalent related degree.
  • Willing to work alongside your education if you are working towards a scientific related degree.
  • A desire to learn and develop your laboratory skills and experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Enjoys problem solving, troubleshooting, and passionate about suggesting improvements to processes.
  • Driven and capable of working independently as part of a cross functional laboratory team.
  • Attention to detail, ensuring things are done right first time.
