Job Description

Job Title: Lead Design Engineer

Location: Coventry

Salary: £50,000 - £57,000

About the Role:

  • Lead a team of engineers in the design and development of exterior and closure components
  • Manage and follow quality, health, safety, and welfare policies
  • Lead the full design and development process, including CAD administration, BOM, DVP, and release activity
  • Guide engineers in implementing GD&T into designs and work closely with the Engineering Analysis team to meet design targets
  • Communicate with the Head of Engineering and support the Programme team to ensure project deliverables are achieved
  • Lead the sign-off process relative to the commodity in line with NPI guidelines

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and follow company policies and procedures
  • Lead the design and development of exterior and closure components, including front and rear bumpers, glazing, and sealing
  • Work closely with Manufacturing to agree feasible manufacturing solutions and control the engineering change process
  • Communicate design solutions to internal stakeholders and external customers
  • Support and mentor engineers within the team with experience and knowledge
  • Participate in formal and on-the-job training to improve skills and knowledge

Requirements:

  • Engineering degree or equivalent in a relevant subject
  • Experience and knowledge in exterior and closure design
  • Strong ability to use CAD and understand CAE literacy using Catia V5
  • High level of engineering design knowledge and GD&T
  • Ability to work efficiently and manage engineering change requests
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment and support others
