Veterinary Clinician in Infectious Disease Specialist

Job Purpose
To contribute to the delivery of a high-quality infectious diseases diagnostic service within the University of Glasgow's Veterinary Diagnostic Services. This includes providing expert advice to veterinary surgeons, nurses, and students, as well as contributing to the development of an administrative framework for systematic reporting of infectious disease results.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Clinical:
- To provide a high-quality infectious diseases diagnostic service, including offering advice to veterinary professionals and contributing to the development of an administrative framework for reporting results.
- To develop the international reputation of the companion animal infectious diseases component of the veterinary diagnostic service.
- To support the training of clinical scholars in infectious disease and veterinary public health.
- To undertake continued personal development, in compliance with RCVS requirements.
Teaching:
- To take responsibility for the organisation and delivery of undergraduate and postgraduate teaching activities, as directed by the Head of Division.
- To contribute to the development and design of the curriculum, supporting a research-led approach to student learning.
- To support the development of creative and innovative approaches to teaching and learning.
- To lead and engage in the delivery of assessment activities and provide effective feedback to students.
Clinical Research:
- To collaborate in clinical/diagnostic investigations and publish in high-quality refereed journals.
- To attend and participate in national/international events and research seminars.
- To contribute to external funding applications and supervise UG and PG students.
Administration:
- To undertake Divisional and School-level administration as requested by the Head of Division/Head of School.
- To contribute to the Performance & Development Review process.
Engagement:
- To participate in promotional activities and events related to Veterinary Diagnostic Services.
- To develop new ideas and participate in the delivery of CPD for practitioners or researchers.
Knowledge, Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
A veterinary degree registerable with the RCVS is essential. A PhD in a relevant subject and professional certification in clinical pathology or infectious disease is required for appointment at Grade 8. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential, as well as the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
