Job Description

Role Overview

Ross Care is seeking a highly skilled Rehabilitation Engineer to join our Surrey Wheelchair Service team. This rewarding role provides a unique opportunity to work with service users of all ages and would suit someone with experience of working in a posture and mobility service who has some knowledge of manual and powered wheelchairs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess the mobility needs of adults and children with complex needs, and prescribe manual and powered wheelchairs with associated posture management and pressure management accessories.
  • Supervise junior staff and provide clinical and technical guidance to other clinical and non-clinical colleagues in the service.
  • Work with clinical and operational colleagues to deliver contractual service performance of a high quality that demonstrates a personalised approach with measured outcomes.
  • Liaise with service user groups and other stakeholders to facilitate joint working and identify opportunities for improving service user outcomes.
  • Provide support for internal and external training programmes, including apprenticeships, student placements, etc.
  • Undertake and document all necessary risk assessments and corresponding risk management.
  • Use analytical, engineering, and practical skills to solve problems for service users in relation to their mobility equipment.

Requirements

  • Experience of working in a posture and mobility service with knowledge of manual and powered wheelchairs.
  • Ability to work with patients with long-term or deteriorating medical conditions.
  • Confidence in the use of digital systems and software for record-keeping and analysis of service performance.
  • Full current UK driving licence for a manual transmission vehicle and willingness to drive Ross Care vehicles (vans) as necessary.
