Sanctuary Personnel Ltd, a dedicated and award-winning recruitment agency with a strong reputation for excellence, has an exciting opportunity available for an experienced Head of Safeguarding to join a well-established Quality Assurance & Improvement Team based in the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham.

As the Head of Safeguarding, Quality Assurance and Improvement, you will be a key member of the Adult Social Care Leadership Team, responsible for ensuring the effective operation of our safeguarding and care management systems for Adults. You will be the driving force behind the quality and impact of practice, maintaining a watchful eye for emerging risks and issues, and setting in train the response to these.

  • Develop and lead a strategic framework for policy, service development, strategic safeguarding, and quality assurance, providing expertise and advice to elected members, senior managers across the Directorate, and the wider organisation.
  • Implement the Quality Assurance Framework, drawing out all available learning from data, audit activity, internal case reviews, and other sources, to learn about the quality of practice and service delivery.
  • Lead improvements in outcomes for adults within Adult Social Care and the wider Safeguarding Partnership, ensuring that partners are supported, scrutinised, and challenged with regards to their safeguarding practice, and delivering a cross-phase safeguarding training offer.
  • Lead the professional development of social workers, ensuring effective recruitment and retention, and developing a workforce based on the principles of Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion.
  • Provide strategic leadership and management of policy and practice, directing the team across Adult Social Care to promote understanding and commitment to practice and quality assurance, achieving effective, person-centred, and legally compliant services.

Requirements:

  • Degree or equivalent in social work
  • Current Social Work England registration
  • Significant frontline experience in Children's Services
  • Substantial experience of quality assurance of practice related to adult services, including safeguarding practice, and demonstrating a positive impact via these quality assurance activities.
  • Knowledge and understanding of safeguarding under the Care Act 2014 and adults' policy and practice, commensurate with the requirements of the role.
  • Experience of devising and undertaking complex service reviews covering all elements of quality and performance, including evaluation of assessment tools, the quality of supervision, and the appropriateness of interventions.
