An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated, experienced and enthusiastic Pharmacy Technician/Science Manufacturing Technician to join our team at Chesterfield Royal Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will deputise for the Production Manager in being responsible for the day-to-day oversight of workload within our MHRA licensed chemotherapy manufacturing unit.

Our small, yet busy Pharmacy Production Unit provides an essential service to the patients within the Chesterfield Royal Hospital via both in-house manufacturing and outsourcing from external suppliers.

  • To deputise for the Production Manager when required.
  • Working alongside the Unit Co-ordinator to manage workload and appropriately distribute staff to ensure an efficient, high quality service is provided.
  • Contribute to the maintenance and development of the Quality Management System (QMS), including participation in deviation, error and change management.
  • To supervise and participate in aseptic manufacturing activities.
  • To ensure that all routine environmental monitoring and maintenance activities are carried out appropriately.
  • To participate in training of staff at all levels within the department.
  • To manage stock control systems within the department to ensure adequate stocks are maintained and be responsible for completion of stock takes and reconciliation.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Level 3 NVQ/BTEC or equivalent (e.g. SMT)
  • Minimum 2 years experience working in an aseptic unit

Desirable

  • Management/Supervisor Qualification
  • Registered pharmacy technician

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of direct line management/supervision of other staff
  • Experience of managing change
  • Comprehensive experience of working in a GMP environment

Desirable

  • Experience working with a pharmacy QMS/PQS
  • Experience of audit
  • Experience working with high cost medication and dose banded chemo
