Job Title: Practice Nurse
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Practice Nurse to join our team at Southend Coastal Surgeries. As a Practice Nurse, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our primary care team.
Main Responsibilities:
- Undertake health assessments, administer medication and treatments, and perform diagnostic tests.
- Provide and evaluate a range of health interventions to ensure patients' health and social care needs are met.
- General health and well-being promotion, as well as creating individual, person-centred plans for patients with or at risk of long-term conditions.
- Manage and treat long-term conditions in line with national and local policies.
- Review medication for therapeutic effectiveness, in accordance with evidence-based practice and national and practice protocols.
- Work with patients to support their adherence to prescribed treatments.
- Prioritise health problems and intervene appropriately to assist patients in complex, urgent, or emergency situations, including initiation of effective emergency care.
- Support and manage the health needs of women presenting for sexual health, contraception, and cervical cytology consultations.

Southend Coastal Surgeries is a new partnership between North Shoebury Surgery and Thorpe Bay Surgery. Our team is committed to providing high-quality patient care and working closely with our local PCN in Southend.
Person Specification:
- A relevant nursing degree.
- Current NMC registration with an active PIN.
- Fundamentals of Practice Nursing course (General Practice Nurse Foundation Programme) or equivalent experience or qualifications.
- Competence to undertake asthma, COPD, and diabetic clinics and reviews, holding relevant certificates.
Essential Experience:
Evidence of clinical skills and experience in treatment room consultation, phlebotomy, ECG recording, screening, management of long-term conditions, cervical cytology sampling, vaccinations, and immunisations, assisting with minor surgery, dressing, and wound care, and recording spirometry.Compassionate manner with an empathetic approach and demonstrable kindness in all aspects of your work.Knowledge and experience of its application in supporting long-term conditions.Insight and understanding of current issues in nursing and the wider NHS.-
