About the Role
Primary Care Careers is seeking an experienced Practice Nurse to join our team at Southend Coastal Surgeries. As a Practice Nurse, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our primary care team.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake health assessments, administer medication and treatments, and perform diagnostic tests to ensure patients receive comprehensive care.
- Provide and evaluate a range of health interventions to meet patients' health and social care needs.
- Conduct health and well-being promotion, create individualized care plans, and manage long-term conditions in accordance with national and local policies.
- Review medication for therapeutic effectiveness and work with patients to support adherence to prescribed treatments.
- Prioritize health problems and intervene appropriately in complex, urgent, or emergency situations.
- Support and manage the health needs of women presenting for sexual health, contraception, and cervical cytology consultations.
About Our Team
Southend Coastal Surgeries is a dynamic and supportive team of qualified clinicians, including HCA, GPA, pharmacy technicians, prescribing teams, paramedics, ACPs, ANPs, and GPs. We work closely with our local PCN in Southend and offer a supportive administration team. Our team is committed to providing high-quality patient care and is dedicated to professional development and growth.
Person Specification
- A relevant nursing degree and current NMC registration with an active PIN.
- Fundamentals of Practice Nursing course (General Practice Nurse Foundation Programme) or equivalent experience or qualifications.
- Competence to undertake asthma, COPD, and diabetic clinics and reviews, holding relevant certificates.
- Evidence of clinical skills and experience in treatment room consultation, phlebotomy, ECG recording, screening, management of long-term conditions, cervical cytology sampling, vaccinations, and immunizations, assisting with minor surgery, dressing, and wound care, and recording spirometry.
- A compassionate manner with an empathetic approach and demonstrable kindness in all aspects of work.
- Knowledge and experience of supporting long-term conditions and insight into current issues in nursing and the wider NHS.
