Job Summary

Primary Care Careers is seeking an experienced Practice Nurse to join our team on a full-time basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for undertaking health assessments, administering medication and treatments, and performing diagnostic tests.

Main Responsibilities

  • Undertake health assessments and provide health interventions to ensure patients' health and social care needs are met.
  • Manage and treat long-term conditions in line with national and local policies.
  • Review medication for therapeutic effectiveness and work with patients to support their adherence to prescribed treatments.
  • Prioritize health problems and intervene appropriately to assist patients in complex, urgent, or emergency situations.
  • Support and manage the health needs of women presenting for sexual health, contraception, and cervical cytology consultations.

Person Specification

  • A relevant nursing degree.
  • Current NMC registration with an active PIN.
  • Fundamentals of Practice Nursing course (General Practice Nurse Foundation Programme) or equivalent experience or qualifications.
  • Competence to undertake asthma, COPD, and diabetic clinics and reviews, holding relevant certificates.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience

  • Evidence of clinical skills and experience in treatment room consultation, phlebotomy, ECG recording, screening, management of long-term conditions, cervical cytology sampling, vaccinations, and immunizations, assisting with minor surgery, dressing, and wound care, and recording spirometry.
  • A compassionate manner with an empathetic approach and demonstrable kindness in all aspects of work.
  • Knowledge and experience of supporting long-term conditions.
  • Insight and understanding of current issues in nursing and the wider NHS.
