Are you a motivated and enthusiastic individual looking for a challenging role in the laboratory setting? We have an exciting opportunity for a Laboratory Assistant to join our team at the Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

About the Role:

  • We are seeking a dedicated and reliable individual to work as part of our Blood Sciences Department, which provides diagnostic support for the Trust, regional GP's and national hospitals on a 24/7 basis.
  • The post holder will be responsible for carrying out varied tasks including specimen reception, labelling, registration, and pre-analytical sample preparation, processing and data manipulation using the department networked computer system.
  • They will perform basic laboratory tests, operate equipment and record some laboratory results.

What You'll Need:

  • Educated to a minimum level of three GCSEs at grade 4 or above, to include English and Maths or equivalent qualifications.
  • Information Technology or Typing qualification.
  • Previous NHS laboratory experience and experience of nightshift work is desirable.
