This key role will be responsible for the performance of all vessel operations and meeting all organizational goals relating to the delivery of safe and efficient transportation.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Manage the day-to-day operations of the fleet, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements.
  2. Identify and implement operational improvements to enhance efficiency and safety.
  3. Establish clear goals and objectives for the vessel management teams and direct them in achieving these goals.
  4. Develop and implement vessel operational policies, procedures, and standards to provide guidance to vessel crews.
  5. Support the development and implementation of vessel training programs to ensure fleet-wide compliance with training goals.
  6. Maintain and continuously improve safety and environmental standards and procedures throughout the fleet.
  7. Investigate incidents, injuries, and near-misses, and develop corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
  8. Manage fleet financial performance and develop operating budgets for vessel operations and marine services.
  9. Oversee audits of vessel SQMS performance and compliance by USCG and other regulatory bodies.
  10. Recommend, develop, and implement policies pertaining to marine personnel and vessel operations.
  11. Manage a staff of multiple union and non-union members and maintain effective communications.
  12. Participate in public meetings and activities related to vessel planning and operations.

Requirements:

  1. Minimum of five (5) years of maritime leadership experience.
  2. Possess, at a minimum, a U.S. Coast Guard license as Master or Chief Engineer or related experience.
  3. Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Marine Transportation, Marine Engineering, or related fields.
  4. Superior leadership, communication, and people management skills.
  5. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, ability to design and analyze operational performance metrics.
  6. Strong knowledge of marine operations and the maritime industry.
  7. Knowledge and experience with high-speed craft operations.
  8. Strong knowledge of maritime regulations at federal and state levels.
  9. Strong knowledge of Health, Safety, Quality, and Environmental (HSQE) programs, including ISO/ISM and best practices.
