Financial Controller for Premier League Club

We are seeking a highly skilled Financial Controller to join our in-house finance team at Brighton & Hove Albion FC, one of the leading Premier League football clubs in the South.

The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the preparation of statutory financial statements and monthly management accounts, with a strong commercial focus. You will monitor departmental spending against budget, collaborating closely with department heads to inform financial decision-making. Additionally, you will ensure the business remains compliant with key financial governance requirements, including VAT, ONS, Premier League, and UEFA regulations.

As a member of our finance team, you will be working closely with other departments to drive business growth and success. We are looking for a dedicated and collaborative team player, with exceptional communication and presentation skills, able to convey complex financial information in a clear and accessible manner.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the preparation of statutory financial statements and monthly management accounts
  • Monitor departmental spending against budget and collaborate with department heads to inform financial decision-making
  • Ensure compliance with key financial governance requirements, including VAT, ONS, Premier League, and UEFA regulations
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including department heads and senior management
  • Provide regular financial reporting and analysis to support business decision-making

Requirements:

  • CIMA, ACCA, ACA or AAT qualified
  • Experience in a similar role, preferably in the sports industry
  • Strong analytical thinking and advanced mathematical abilities
  • Proficiency in relevant software, including financial accounting systems
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
