You'll be working with children and young people with a range of special educational needs – to help them learn, develop their abilities, and raise their self-esteem. As a Teacher at Two Rivers High School, you will get all the support you need to succeed, from in-house specialists, to teaching assistants, and therapy professionals.

Your responsibilities will include:

  1. To further enhance and develop the curriculum to meet the needs of all pupils giving them the most relevant skills and knowledge to succeed.
  2. To secure high-quality teaching, effective use of resources, and improve standards of learning and achievement for all pupils in consultation with the Headteacher and Senior Leadership Team.
  3. To teach a broad and balanced curriculum for all pupils, across the range of SEN needs and ages.
  4. Support pupils making progress, differentiating where appropriate. To monitor, record, and report upon pupil progress.
  5. Produce pupil SEN passports, monitor pupil social communication development, contribute to provision mapping, and annual reviews, ILP's for students.
  6. Guide the work of any tutors (including Teaching Assistants/HLTA's).
  7. Be able to provide pastoral support and guidance for all pupils.
  8. To contribute to the overall development of teaching and learning across the school.
  9. Willing to develop and utilize a range of specialized teaching approaches.

You will also be responsible for:

  • Use data to plan lessons and learning materials to motivate and support pupils to make at least good progress.
  • To set challenging targets for all pupils, having high expectations for pupils' behavior, learning, motivation, and presentation of work by establishing a purposeful working atmosphere.
  • Work in collaboration with Teaching Assistants, teachers, and tutors.
  • Take account of pupils' prior attainment, learning styles, and needs and use them to set appropriately targets and learning activities.
  • To promote and develop literacy skills throughout teaching and learning activities so that literacy does not present a barrier to learning.
  • Provide intervention activities for those pupils who need support to boost attainment/progress or who require additional challenge.
  • Ensure that teaching room, resources, and equipment are maintained in good order, with regard to Health & Safety and security of property.
  • Ensure that a stimulating learning environment is maintained in the classroom, including provision of a high-quality display.
