Role Summary:

The Family Support Worker will be responsible for providing a high-quality Social Work service to vulnerable children and families. The successful candidate will have a Social Work Qualification or equivalent, experience of working with children and families, and be registered with Social Work England.

Main Responsibilities:

  • To provide a Social Work service in accordance with departmental policies and priorities, including participation in the costing, co-ordination, monitoring, and review of departmental procedures.
  • To maintain awareness of current legislative requirements as relating to children and participate in relevant training.
  • To use regular supervision and staff appraisal, as well as participate in staff meetings, to ensure an effective service to users and carers and further professional development.
  • To work according to the council's data protection and confidentiality standards.
  • To participate in the development and implementation of performance indicators and quality service standards.
  • To keep children safe and undertake or contribute towards child protection investigations, providing assessments and recommendations that facilitate decision-making by appropriate line managers.
  • To undertake assessments of needs of children and their families, taking into account their views, and ensure that a comprehensive plan is in place which has been discussed, and where possible, agreed on a regular basis.
  • To work collaboratively with professionals from both within the Children's Services Division and other multi-disciplinary services to ensure that plans are carried out effectively in the best interest of children and families.

Requirements:

  • A Social Work Qualification or equivalent.
  • Continual professional development.
  • Social Work England registered.

Salary Range: £35,000 - £40,000 per annum.
