Cloud Infrastructure Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Cloud Infrastructure Specialist to join our team at the University of Stirling. As a key member of our Infrastructure Development team, you will play a critical role in designing and developing emerging cloud IT infrastructure and existing core on-premises systems.
About the RoleThis is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and experienced professional to contribute to the development, deployment, and administration of core IT resources for learning, teaching, and study. The successful candidate will work closely with colleagues in Operational Support and Customer Services teams to ensure seamless system changes from development to support.
The ideal candidate will have a degree in Computing or an IT-related subject and proven experience in systems administration, both on-premises and in a cloud platform. They will be proficient in scripting/programming languages and have a solid understanding of networking, DevOps, and containerization.
Key Responsibilities- Contribute to infrastructure planning exercises and prepare detailed plans of resources required for continuous improvement and technology changes.
- Develop high-quality solutions in line with project objectives, timescales, and budget.
- Assist in the skills development of other team members and build strong professional partnerships with colleagues.
- Provide sound technical advice on complex system problems and represent the Head of Infrastructure as required.
The successful candidate will possess:
- Proven experience of systems administration, both on-premises and in a cloud platform.
- Proficiency in a scripting/programming language.
- A good understanding of networking, DevOps, and containerization.
- A solid understanding of software and database concepts.
The salary for this position is estimated to be around £55,000-£65,000 per annum, depending on experience. In addition to a competitive salary, we offer a range of benefits, including a generous pension scheme, flexible working hours, and access to professional development opportunities.
