About the RoleThe Student Success Tutor is responsible for providing comprehensive support to students across various aspects of their academic journey. This includes offering guidance on academic and IT questions, facilitating access to academic support services, and aiding students with personal learning plans. You will also be required to work collaboratively with academic colleagues and other departments to ensure effective communication and timely interventions.
Key Responsibilities- Maintain a thorough understanding of GBS's support services and partner organizations' offerings
- Guide students in accessing relevant support services and resources
- Triage student problems, providing immediate support or referring them as needed
- Advise students on mitigating circumstances, deferral procedures, and academic regulations
- Provide basic academic support within and outside the classroom
- Refer students to appropriate support services, whether academic, welfare, or career-oriented
- Help students navigate learning resources, including library and e-library facilities
- Offer basic IT support and signpost students to IT helpdesks
- Identify and report common academic and IT issues that may benefit from preemptive solutions
- Monitor student attendance on a session-by-session basis
- Contact students missing one week of study, attempt to re-engage them, and maintain accurate records of student contact
- Refer students missing two weeks or more, or with less than 50% attendance, to the Retention Team
- Collaborate with academic colleagues to contact students who have not submitted summative assessments and refer to the retention team as necessary
- Assist with administering surveys and collecting results for analysis by the Planning, Information, and Delivery department
- Bachelor's degree and typically 5 years of administrative experience in a busy environment, ideally in Higher Education
- Strongly developed sense of service delivery and customer/student-focused approach
- Excellent interpersonal skills, active listening, written, and verbal communication
- Strong administrative skills with proficiency in MS Office applications such as Excel, Word, Outlook Mail
- Good attention to detail
- Able to work well as part of a team
- Able to work under pressure and to deadlines
- Flexible, approachable, and helpful with a strong customer service ethic
- Able to use initiative and judgement to resolve matters
- Able to handle sensitive and personal information with tact and confidentiality
As a Student Success Tutor at Global Banking School, you can expect a competitive salary of approximately £25,000 - £30,000 per annum, depending on your level of experience and qualifications.
