We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Vehicle Maintenance Specialist to join our team at GTCO. As a key member of our fleet services team, you will be responsible for undertaking major and general repairs to all types of motor vehicles and equipment, including specialist repairs, inspections, and diagnostics.
Key Responsibilities- Undertake all major and general repairs to motor vehicles and equipment, including specialist repairs, inspections, and diagnostics.
- Carry out scheduled maintenance of vehicles, plant, and equipment, including engine, chassis, gearbox, electrical repair, and preventative maintenance.
- Responsible for maintaining knowledge of vehicle inspections and MOT preparation in line with DVSA requirements.
- Carry out work on and around vehicle high voltage systems safely and in accordance with industry standard working procedures.
- Diagnose faults on all systems, including hydraulic, pneumatic, fuel, electrical, etc., following recognised diagnostic procedures.
- Use a range of diagnostic equipment, including multimeters, EOBD readers, and other specialised diagnostic equipment.
- Ensure all work is carried out with due regard to the safety and welfare of others and maintain work areas in a clean, tidy, and hygienic condition.
- Participate in out-of-hours breakdown service and attend roadside breakdowns in all weather conditions.
- Provide advice, guidance, and training to service users, drivers, and customers on vehicle operation, roadworthiness, defects, and repairs.
- Directly responsible for the load safety of any vehicles or assets recovered from roadside or satellite depots.
- Use work equipment safely and in line with working procedures, undertaking pre-use inspections and minor repairs within competency.
- Mentor and develop apprentices and/or young persons in carrying out day-to-day tasks, ensuring they are trained to the required competency.
- Full UK HGV (Category C or C+E) license.
- BTEC National Certificate in Automotive Engineering (ONC) or equivalent.
- Level 3 NVQ Automotive Maintenance and Repair or equivalent experience working in a heavy commercial vehicle workshop.
- LGV License: Unrestricted Category C.
- F gas license.
- Forklift operator's license.
- Tail lift LOLER certification.
- Level 3 Award in Electric/Hybrid Vehicle System Repair and Replacement.
