Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Vehicle Technician to join our team at GTCO. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for undertaking major and general repairs to all types of motor vehicles and plant equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Undertake repairs and maintenance of vehicles and plant equipment, including specialist repairs, inspections, and diagnostics.
  • Carry out work on and around vehicle high voltage systems safely and in accordance with industry standard working procedures.
  • Diagnose faults on all systems, including hydraulic, pneumatic, fuel, electrical, and others, using recognised diagnostic procedures and logical diagnostic sequences.
  • Use a range of diagnostic equipment, including multimeters, EOBD readers, and specialised diagnostic equipment, to determine faults and serviceability.
  • Ensure all work is carried out with due regard to the safety and welfare of others, and maintain work areas in a clean, tidy, and hygienic condition.
  • Participate in out-of-hours breakdown service and attend roadside breakdowns in all weather conditions.
  • Provide advice, guidance, and training to service users, drivers, and customers on vehicle operation, roadworthiness, defects, and repairs.
  • Mentor and develop apprentices and young persons in carrying out day-to-day tasks, ensuring they are trained to the required competency level.
Requirements
  • Full UK HGV (Category C or C+E) license.
  • BTEC National Certificate in Automotive Engineering (ONC) or equivalent.
  • Level 3 NVQ Automotive Maintenance and Repair or equivalent experience working in a heavy commercial vehicle workshop.
  • LGV License: Unrestricted Category C.
  • F gas license.
  • Forklift operator's license.
  • Tail lift LOLER certification.
  • Level 3 Award in Electric/Hybrid Vehicle System Repair and Replacement.
