About this role

We are seeking a skilled Senior Rail Infrastructure Engineer to join our team at Siemens Mobility. As a key member of our CIS business, you will play a critical role in delivering network and security solutions to support the digital railway.

Our portfolio includes the provision of telecommunication systems and cyber security solutions, including data networks for railway stations, SCADA systems, signaling systems, telephony systems, backbone communication networks/bearer network, network security, and other cyber security systems.

In this role, you will lead the specification, development, and deployment of solutions within the business and continually refine best practice. These solutions will promote maximum re-use of previously deployed applications, assisting the bid and engineering teams in their need to offer and provide cost-effective systems.

Key responsibilities

  1. Act as Lead Engineer on SCADA projects.
  2. Provide technical support for SCADA Projects within the business.
  3. Work in conjunction with Subject Matter Experts to determine the most appropriate compliant and cost-effective options for deployment to projects.
  4. Provide Engineering support during the bid process, ensuring maximum re-use of previously deployed solutions.
  5. Provide estimates for engineering projects and tenders with regard to resources, plans, technology, risk, and process.
  6. Ensure the appropriate standards, processes, procedures, and tools are applied throughout the engineering life cycle.
  7. Deliver assigned activities within agreed timescales and budgeted costs.
  8. Ensure products and projects are delivered in accordance with Siemens Safety and Quality procedures and meet all applicable legislative, safety, and customer requirements.

Requirements

  1. Extensive experience of delivering complex projects to the Rail SCADA market.
  2. Proven success leading a team of engineers to design and deliver complex systems.
  3. Proven experience in the use of requirements management tools.
  4. Proven experience in the use of configuration management and change control tools.
  5. Degree or equivalent in a relevant subject.
  6. Chartered Engineer or equivalent status.
  7. Experience and knowledge of engineering processes at all stages of the engineering lifecycle.
  8. Proven experience providing estimates for engineering projects and tenders.
  9. Good knowledge of IT systems and software, especially Microsoft Office and Project.
  10. Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills.
  11. Excellent organisational, time management, and problem-solving skills.
