Plymouth, Plymouth, United Kingdom Plymouth City Council Full time
About Plymouth City Council

We're committed to making Plymouth a vibrant waterfront city, where everyone can enjoy an outstanding quality of life. Our long-term vision for the city is outlined in The Plymouth Plan, which sets a shared direction for the future and brings together various planning processes.

Our City's Growth Strategy

Plymouth has secured significant investments worth over £1 billion, securing submarine and nuclear work for the next 70 years. With strong manufacturing and engineering capabilities, as well as being a global centre of excellence for marine science and technology, Plymouth is an ideal location for serving aspects of planned floating offshore wind developments in the Celtic Sea.

New Opportunities and Challenges

The City Council is working to develop housing, skills, education, and transport to meet the wave of regeneration. Our new Strategic Director of Growth will lead the plan for a new town within the city centre, driving economic growth and attracting funding and regeneration partnerships with private, voluntary, and public sectors.

About the Role

We're seeking a highly skilled professional to lead our growth strategy. As the Strategic Town Planner Lead, you'll bring emotional intelligence, strong political and financial nous, and a passion for driving change. You'll be responsible for developing and implementing plans to drive economic growth, attract investment, and improve the quality of life for our residents.

This role offers a unique opportunity to make a real impact on the city's future. If you're a strategic thinker with excellent leadership skills, we'd love to hear from you.
