About the Role

We are seeking dedicated volunteers to support our Complementary Therapy team in delivering exceptional care to patients and carers.

Located at St Wilfrid's Hospice, 1 Broadwater Way, this role is perfect for individuals who want to make a difference in their community.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Hold a recognized qualification for massage, reflexology, or acupuncture, with a minimum level 3 massage certification.
  2. Ensure treatments are carried out in accordance with hospice policy and the professional standards of your organization.
  3. Participate in training as invited by the manager of the role.
  4. Avoid promoting your own private practice; notify the CT Team if a patient expresses interest in private treatment.
  5. Stay up-to-date with mandatory training requirements.
  6. Understand the importance of confidentiality and data security, adhering to our policies.
  7. Comply with St Wilfrid's Hospice policies and procedures.
Training and Support
  1. Complete hospice volunteer induction training, including eLearning modules.
  2. Participate in department-specific training as needed.
  3. Receive SystmOne training.
  4. Undergo induction training during your first shift with the Complementary Therapy Leads.
  5. You will always work alongside nursing staff, guided by the Complementary Therapy Leads.
  6. Learn about protective personal equipment.
  7. Enjoy ongoing support from the Complementary Therapy Leads and the Voluntary Services Team.
  8. Familiarize yourself with emergency procedures (fire/first aid/escape routes).
  9. Understand safe manual handling and equipment use.
  10. Dress appropriately (PPE, long hair tied back, closed-toed shoes).

Disclosure and Barring (DBS) Check: An enhanced DBS check with adult barring is required. This position involves working in Regulated Activity under the Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Act 2006 and requires an enhanced DBS with Barred list check.

The estimated salary range for this position is £8-12 per hour.
