Paediatric Food Allergy Clinical Expertise

We are seeking an experienced clinician to lead our paediatric food allergy services, working closely with the multidisciplinary team to develop advanced skills in nutritional diagnosis and emergency management of paediatric allergy patients.

The successful post-holder will have the opportunity to work with MDT members to develop dietetic led food allergy pathways and nutritional care plans that support families to minimise the risk of food allergy being realised.

The Nutrition and Dietetics Department is a growing team of more than 40 dietitians and nutrition nurses, with regular departmental meetings, clinical supervision sessions and education meetings. Continuing professional development is promoted and supported.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a newly created clinical leadership role within our expanding service, with the chance to make a real difference in the lives of our patients and their families.

The successful post-holder will be responsible for leading the development of dietetic led food allergy pathways and nutritional care plans, working closely with the MDT to ensure that our patients receive the best possible care.

We are looking for an innovative individual who is driven to work within paediatric food allergy, with a proven track record of leading for quality improvement within teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the development of dietetic led food allergy pathways and nutritional care plans
  • Work closely with the MDT to ensure that our patients receive the best possible care
  • Develop advanced skills in nutritional diagnosis and emergency management of paediatric allergy patients
  • Contribute to the development of the Nutrition and Dietetics Department, working closely with the team to ensure that our patients receive the best possible care
Person Specification
  • BSc/MSc in Nutrition & Dietetics or similar
  • UK Registered Dietitian with the HCPC
  • Evidence of having completed an accredited course or equivalent level of professional experience at Masters level in the specialist area of food allergy practice eg MSc in Allergy
  • Clinical teaching skills course
Experience
  • Past work experience in a varied dietetic environment
  • Significant clinical experience post registration experience in paediatric food allergy
  • Has developed expert practice in food allergy and/or paediatrics to include different ways of caseload management and delivering services
  • Can demonstrate evidence of continued professional development (eg. keeps a professional portfolio, Diploma in Advanced Dietetic Practice, peer reviewed publications, presentations)
  • Extended Scope Practitioner in accordance with approval procedure for extended roles
  • Is able to demonstrate ability to initiate and be involved in audit / research activities
  • Previous involvement with the pre-registration practice training for dietitians
