National Autism Research Lead

As the National Autism Research Lead, you will play a crucial role in leading the operational delivery of the Five-year NHS autism research strategy for England. This position sits within the autism team in the national Learning Disability and Autism Programme.
Main Responsibilities:
- Develop an evidence-led culture across the Learning Disability and Autism Programme.
- Provide guidance and advice on using existing research and evidence to inform decision-making within NHS England regarding initiatives related to the health of autistic people.
- Coordinate strategic collaboration between public and third sector organizations involved in autism research, learning disability research, and health service delivery.
About the Role:
This role involves leading the operational delivery of the national autism research strategy for England, line management of a research support manager, and ensuring cohesive and efficient delivery of the wider research team program. The post-holder will work closely with the Research and Innovation and the Data, Analysis and Intelligence teams to ensure that the work to increase scientific literacy within the Learning Disability and Autism Programme is coordinated with the wider organizational move to increase the use of evidence in NHS England as a whole.
Requirements:
- Educated to PhD level or equivalent in a scientific discipline with a specialism related to autism.
- Subject matter expertise relating to the use of research and evidence in the NHS, specifically operation and delivery of autism research in the NHS and the role of key stakeholders and organizations.
- Understanding of the background to and aims of current healthcare policy and legislation with respect to the delivery of healthcare for autistic people and people with learning disability in England.
