About the Role


We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Nursing Sister/Charge Nurse to join our Beaconsfield East Ward as part of The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated professional to make a meaningful contribution to the delivery of high-quality patient care.



Job Summary


The successful candidate will be responsible for leading a team of nursing staff, assessing care needs, developing and implementing programmes of care, and evaluating their effectiveness. They will also supervise qualified and unqualified staff, provide clinical guidance, and take responsibility for a group of patients during their shift.



Key Responsibilities



  • To assess care needs and develop, implement, and evaluate programmes of care in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.
  • To teach and supervise qualified and unqualified staff, act as a role model to junior staff, and undertake performance management as required.
  • To take responsibility and accountability for a group of patients and the whole department/unit/ward during the duration of their shift.
  • To ensure that research-based nursing care within the ward meets high standards and adheres to hospital policies and procedures.
  • Maintain individual patient care plans, evaluating and updating them as necessary to meet patients' physical, social, and psychological needs.
  • Ensure that all patients' nutritional and personal hygiene needs are met, including completing nutritional assessments and referring to relevant specialists as needed.

Person Specification



  • A 1st Level NMC Registered Nurse with experience working in elderly care settings.
  • An understanding of contemporary nursing issues and evidence of continuing professional development (CPD).
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to deputise for the ward manager.


Estimated Salary: £40,000 - £60,000 per annum, depending on experience.
