National Obstetric Clinical Fellow

NHS Resolution is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Obstetrician to join our team as a National Obstetric Clinical Fellow. This is a unique opportunity to work at a national level and contribute to improving outcomes in maternity care.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and manage the workload for a region in England, reviewing case files and providing feedback on how to learn from claims to prevent future harm.
- Lead on a project within the organisation, representing NHS Resolution at external meetings with key stakeholders in maternity care.
- Triage cases reported into the scheme and work with the EN family liaison and mediation lead and wider team to support the development of the scheme.
- Lead presentations internally and externally for Trusts.
NHS Resolution is an Arms Length Body of the Department of Health & Social Care. Our purpose is to provide expertise to the NHS to resolve concerns fairly, share learning for improvement and preserve resources for patients. We have four key service areas: Claims Management, Practitioner Performance Advice, Primary Care Appeals, and Safety and Learning.

Requirements- Understanding of current issues and challenges within healthcare.
- Some understanding of quality improvement/safety improvement work/clinical governance and national strategies.
- Knowledge and understanding of confidentiality within the workplace (particularly within the NHS).
- Knowledge and understanding of Equality Act (2010), Freedom of Information Act (2000), and Data Protection Act/General Data Protection Regulations (2018).
- Previous co-ordination or management or leadership experience either at undergraduate or postgraduate level within or outside healthcare.
- Experience of leading on clinical case note review to provide a view on potential legal liability.
- Previous NHS experience.
- Speciality knowledge of working within or detailed knowledge of obstetrics.
- Full registration with relevant professional body.
- Minimum training level or experience five years post qualification (ST5 and above or equivalent).
- Masters level degree or equivalent level of study/experience.
- Satisfactory progression through training as evidenced by satisfactory outcomes in appraisals ARCP, revalidations and relevant specialty examinations including MRCOG.
