Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Accountant to join our team at Public Practice Recruitment Ltd. As a Senior Accountant, you will play a key role in supporting our clients across various industries, providing expert accounting services and guidance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a diverse client portfolio, working closely with senior management to ensure expectations and deadlines are met.
  • Prepare statutory accounts for Limited companies and Sole Traders, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Prepare accounts from core records, using FRS 105 and/or FRS 102, and submit VAT returns in a timely manner.
  • Manage cashbook, postings, and reconciliations, ensuring financial accuracy and transparency.
  • Review expenses, purchase invoices, and credit cards, identifying areas for cost savings and process improvements.
  • Liaise with clients, building trusted relationships and proactively handling queries and concerns.
  • Support junior staff, including reviewing work and supporting their professional development, to ensure a smooth transition of tasks and responsibilities.
  • Identify new processes and ways to increase efficiency, streamlining workflows and improving overall productivity.
  • Research and interpret changes to taxation and accounting regulations, ensuring compliance and advising clients on best practices.
  • Champion your own professional development, regularly undertaking training opportunities to stay up-to-date with industry developments and advancements.

As a Senior Accountant, you will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of accounting projects, from statutory accounts to VAT returns, and will be responsible for managing a client portfolio, working closely with senior management to ensure expectations and deadlines are met.

Requirements

  • AAT / ACCA / ACA qualified, part-qualified, or studying, with a strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
  • A proven track record of managing a client portfolio, including monitoring commercial aspects and providing expert accounting services.
  • Strong working knowledge of relevant software, including MS Office, Xero, QuickBooks, and Sage, to support accounting tasks and workflows.
  • A team player with excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and a can-do attitude to problem-solving.
  • Self-motivated and able to manage your own deadlines and workflow, with a strong focus on delivering high-quality results.
