The Royal College of Music is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our Estates & Facilities team as Head of Projects, Facilities & Operations. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a world-leading music conservatoire and contribute to the delivery of our strategic objectives.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all aspects of the College's Buildings operations, including the Prince Consort Road Campus and RCM Jay Mews. This will involve working closely with the Estates Management team to achieve our goals and objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage procurement, delivery, mobilisation and operational readiness of all new building projects and facilities operations.
  • Take a leading role in constantly seeking to improve the Building Operations to enhance the user experience in collaboration with other estates management colleagues.
  • Deputise for the Director of Estates at senior meetings and present reports and presentations.
  • Provide customer service and engage with visitors, including box office and front of house services.
  • Ensure the security provision for daily operations and VIP events, including liaison with the Metropolitan Police.
  • Lead a busy, hardworking team who provide on-site duty management, 7 days per week.
  • Take responsibility for key, strategic decisions and where necessary, take emergency action.
Requirements

The successful candidate will need to demonstrate:

  • Extensive experience in project management, including successful delivery of construction projects.
  • Clear knowledge and proven background in facilities management, ideally in an HEI environment.
  • Ability to deputise for the Director of Estates and present reports and presentations.
  • Background in visitor engagement and customer service.
  • Experience in security provision and liaison with the Metropolitan Police.
  • A positive and proactive attitude, and quick to respond to requests.
  • Ability to lead a busy, hardworking team.
  • Ability to take responsibility for key, strategic decisions.
