Position Overview: Service Writer

The Service Writer is integral to FleetPride's operations, tasked with effectively communicating service estimates, scheduling appointments, and detailing work performed to customers. A robust mechanical knowledge of trucks and trailers is vital, along with the ability to convey technical information clearly. The role also encompasses various administrative responsibilities, such as report preparation, managing information requests, and supporting office functions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Engage with customers and staff to address questions, clarify repair details, and arrange service appointments.
  • Support the Service Manager and Technicians with daily operational tasks.
  • Create and manage documentation using software tools like Google Sheets and Excel.
  • Assess customer accounts and payment statuses prior to scheduling services.
  • Handle incoming communications and secure payment approvals.
  • Maintain organized filing systems, manage inventory, and update databases.
  • Efficiently estimate, schedule, and invoice repair services.
  • Coordinate emergency road services, issue purchase orders, and ensure timely job completion.
  • Perform general office duties while maintaining an orderly workspace.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience & Skills:
  • Comprehensive mechanical knowledge of trucks and trailers is essential.
  • Basic computer proficiency is required.
  • Familiarity with G-Suite, Excel, and Word is preferred.
Competencies:
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication capabilities.
  • Demonstrated experience in customer service.
  • Ability to effectively promote FleetPride's offerings.
Work Environment:

The role involves both indoor and outdoor conditions, with exposure to varying temperatures, minimal chemical hazards, vibrations, dust, and vehicle noise.
