About the Role

Job OverviewThe Barts Cancer Institute at Queen Mary University of London is seeking a highly skilled Research Technician to join our dynamic team. This is an exciting opportunity for a molecular biologist to contribute to cutting-edge research and development of novel methods for cancer diagnostics.

We are looking for someone with extensive laboratory experience or a degree in a relevant field. The ideal candidate will have experience with molecular biology techniques such as PCR and next-generation sequencing, as well as working with human tissue samples or other potentially infectious material.

The successful applicant will be able to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team, with excellent organisational skills and attention to detail. They will also have a strong understanding of standard operating procedures and protocols.

In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Cataloguing and processing samples for next-generation sequencing
  • Extracting cell-free DNA from plasma
  • Generating sequencing libraries from cfDNA

You will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of projects, including genome-wide and targeted analysis of cancer genomes. Our team is dedicated to developing novel tools for cancer diagnostics and exploring the biophysical properties of circulating tumour DNA.
