Job Summary

Spark Medical is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Paramedic to join our team. As a Paramedic, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care in emergency and non-emergency situations. You will work closely with our team to respond to a variety of patient-facing environments, including events and emergency situations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Transport, assess, and attend to patients and service users within the care of Spark Medical, adhering to policies and procedures.
  • Accurately complete all documentation related to patients, vehicles, and equipment, and submit it to Spark Medical management as required.
  • Provide treatment up to the post-holder's assessed ability, in line with current best practices, such as JRCALC and local guidelines.
  • Gather relevant information from carers or others at the scene, reporting to healthcare professionals, hospitals, or others as required, while maintaining patient confidentiality.
  • Be aware of the patient's social and environmental condition and report any matters of concern to the appropriate person or body.
  • Actively participate in personal and environmental cleaning routines to ensure infection prevention and control standards are adhered to.
  • Drive all vehicles in emergency/non-emergency situations legally and in accordance with the Spark Medical driving policy, demonstrating consideration for the comfort and safety of the patient, vehicle sympathy, and other road users.
  • Carry out vehicle and equipment checks at the start of and during each shift to ensure the readiness of the vehicle, equipment, and consumables to respond as required, reporting all defects and damage in accordance with Spark Medical policies and procedures.
  • When working with a lower clinical qualification, act as the senior clinician and be responsible for clinical care at all times, maintaining clinical responsibility.
  • Achieve and maintain competence in all relevant skills and knowledge, actively engaging in CPD events and keeping a personal development portfolio.
Requirements
  • Must hold a current HCPC registration.
  • Must have a minimum of 24 months of NHS Trust frontline ambulance experience and undertaking pre-hospital duties (post qualification).
  • Must have experience of working with bariatric, paediatric, and neonatal patients.
  • Must hold a full UK driving licence with a maximum of 6 penalty points.
  • Must have a minimum of 12 months of driving experience since first holding a UK driving licence.
  • Must be physically fit and able to undertake the physical aspects of the role.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
  • Ability to complete relevant paperwork to clinical standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in an emergency ambulance environment.
  • Ability to prioritise objectives and work schedules to make the best use of time and resources.
  • Ability to deliver a high-quality patient experience and ensure service user satisfaction at all times.
  • Ability to work in a team and also to use own initiative when necessary.
  • Willingness to adapt and learn new skills.
  • Ability to maintain and exemplify high clinical standards.
  • IHCD or FutureQuals emergency ambulance driving qualification.
