Molecular Diagnostics Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Molecular Diagnostics Specialist to join our team at the Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our clinical genomics service, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality molecular diagnostics to patients.
Key Responsibilities- Carry out analytical molecular diagnostics investigations with minimal supervision, including Next Generation Sequencing, fragment analysis, and gene expression analysis.
- Assist in training junior members of the team and visitors, as well as contribute to IT development and data management related to the technical aspects of the molecular service.
- Take day-to-day responsibility for the quality of technical and analytical work produced, ensuring that clinical requests are met according to agreed policies on availability of tests and priorities.
- Monitor quality control of all tests performed, provide cover for routine lab tasks, and ensure that quality control tests are conducted and meet required analytical standards.
- Ability to express themselves clearly and write concisely.
- Ability to use in-house IT systems and Microsoft software or equivalent.
- Evidence of professional development, self-confidence, and a flexible approach to work.
- At least 2 years of experience in laboratory work, including attention to detail and record keeping.
- Able to understand and follow SOPs, perform basic training, and have basic knowledge of genetics.
