About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Molecular Diagnostics Specialist to join our team at The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our clinical scientific team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality molecular diagnostics services to patients.
Key Responsibilities
- To ensure the timely and efficient provision of core and technologically complex analytical/diagnostic services, including PCR, RQ-PCR, sequencing, NGS, and ddPCR.
- To take day-to-day responsibility for the quality of technical and analytical work produced, ensuring that clinical requests are met according to agreed policies on availability of tests and priorities.
- To maintain adequate stock of all reagents and consumables, through timely ordering of supplies in liaison with the Laboratory Supervisor.
- To contribute to the preparation of reports on the work carried out in the laboratory, and to assist with the day-to-day working of the laboratory.

Essential
- Ability to express themselves clearly and concisely.
- Ability to use in-house IT systems and Microsoft software or equivalent.
- Educational qualification in mathematics or a related field.

- Evidence of personal development and a self-confident approach to work.
- Able to work unsupervised and with a flexible approach to work.
Specific Experience
Essential
- BSc degree in Biological Sciences/Genetics or a related field.
- Evidence of training and knowledge related to specific area or instruments.
- In-depth post-graduate experience related to specific area.
Desirable
- Working towards MSc degree in Biological Sciences / Genetics.
- Voluntary registration with the Science Council (RSci) or in process.
