About the Role

Mace is seeking a highly skilled Design Manager to join our team in the Gas industry. As a key member of our design management team, you will be responsible for leading and managing the design resources for a number of CAPEX Projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Safety First
    • Advocate for Mace's value of safety first and lead exceptional safety, quality, cost, programme, sustainability, and compliance standards for the design resources you manage.
    • Possess technical expertise in local health and safety rules and regulations relevant to project portfolio.
    • Champion a diverse and inclusive working environment and understand the importance of the wellbeing of the people you manage.
  • Client Focus
    • Guide daily activities of the team of design management resources for project/s.
    • Support the delivery of design management to deliver key strategic outcomes & sub-function KPIs, directly influencing strategic development.
    • Be a point of contact for client design issues, ensuring relationships are managed and maintained.
    • Gather asset information.
    • Arrange and manage surveys.
    • Manage design modifications using systems and procedures.
    • Coordinate internal activities, such as environmental surveys.
    • Produce optioneering reports.
    • Develop isolation and outage plans.
    • Coordinate Stakeholder communication, scope queries, design review, and decisions.
    • Produce concept designs - 2D and 3D drawings.
    • Attend site when needed to diagnose problems & find solutions.
    • Manage multidiscipline detailed design and associated analysis reports.
    • Review MTO's and datasheets, review and accept manufacturing drawings.
    • Propose and agree requirements to progress projects for delivery, such as for FPSA's, design, construction, and commissioning, closure.
    • Complete Databooks.
    • Communicate with delivery teams, such as for strategy, timescales, risks, opportunities.
    • Support the delivery of national grid's net zero targets.
  • Integrity
    • Implement and execute the design management system, processes, and protocols to meet statutory, legal, and contractual requirements.
    • Support the long-term development of strategy for a function or Business Unit (BU), creating a sustainable business future.
    • Commit to making a positive impact for our people, our clients, and our planet, and take ownership for holding others to account who do not uphold the Mace values.
  • Create Opportunity
    • Mentor, coach, and develop your project team and provide an environment to share knowledge and experience.

    Requirements
    • Design, construction, operation, and maintenance of industrial assets, including process safety assessments.
    • Understanding of programme management and preferably be able to use planning software tools to create and or update programmes.
    • ISO9001 and the application of quality management systems within project delivery.
    • Have a good eye for detail, and experience producing written reports.
    • Relevant engineering and industry legislation and standards.
