About the Role

Mace is seeking an experienced Design Manager to join our team in the Gas sector. As a key member of our design management team, you will be responsible for leading and managing design resources to deliver exceptional safety, quality, cost, programme, sustainability, and compliance standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage design resources to deliver key strategic outcomes and sub-function KPIs.
  • Support the delivery of design management to deliver key strategic outcomes and sub-function KPIs.
  • Manage and maintain exceptional safety, quality, cost, programme, sustainability, and compliance standards.
  • Champion a diverse and inclusive working environment and understand the importance of the wellbeing of the people you manage.
  • Develop and implement design management systems, processes, and protocols to meet statutory, legal, and contractual requirements.
  • Mentor, coach, and develop project team members and provide an environment to share knowledge and experience.
  • Actively network, innovate, and seek understanding of best practice, utilising the full depth of knowledge of Mace group, the centres of excellence, Mace way control centre, and knowledge hub.
Requirements
  • Knowledge of regulations applicable to the gas and construction industry, CDM Regulations 2015.
  • Comprehension of engineering principles and an ability to apply learning across different engineering disciplines.
  • Demonstrate financial management and commercial acumen alongside excellent influencing and negotiating, customer orientation, and communication skills.
  • Demonstrate excellent leadership, people management, and supporting individuals to develop.
  • Ability to demonstrate an understanding of programme management and preferably be able to use planning software tools to create and or update programmes.
  • Knowledge of how the gas network operates, key policies, and specifications and working within the gas industry would be beneficial to your role as well as managing and delivering engineering contracts (ideally NEC3 or NEC4).
  • Asset Management qualification and or knowledge.
  • Educated to degree level in a relevant engineering discipline would be advantageous in this role.
  • Working towards Chartered Engineer (with relevant professional institute) would be advantageous in this role.
