We are seeking an experienced and skilled Portering Supervisor to lead our team of porters in delivering exceptional patient care and hospital operations. As a key member of the facilities department, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth running of our hospital.
About the RoleThe successful candidate will be responsible for supervising a team of porters, coordinating their activities, and ensuring that they are trained and equipped to complete their tasks effectively. You will also be a key point of contact within the portering service, providing assistance with day-to-day operations and maintaining high standards of performance.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to work alongside a supportive management team and benefit from outside support from the Education and Training department. You will be confident in your ability to lead a team, inspire others, and provide a caring and polite manner when interacting with patients and staff.
Main Responsibilities- Supervise and coordinate the activities of porters, ensuring that they are trained and equipped to complete their tasks effectively.
- Provide assistance with day-to-day operations, including problem-solving and troubleshooting.
- Maintain high standards of performance, ensuring that the portering service is delivered to a consistently high standard.
- Work collaboratively with other departments, including education and training, to ensure seamless delivery of services.
- Lead by example, demonstrating a friendly and helpful manner when interacting with patients and staff.

Requirements- Effective social skills gained from dealing with the public.
- Experience working in a hospital environment.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of manual handling and health and safety regulations.
- Ability to communicate at all levels of the organisation.
- Ability to abide by all relevant trust and portering policies and procedures.
- Ability to lead, motivate, persuade and train staff.
The salary for this role is approximately £32,000 - £40,000 per annum, depending on experience.
