Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Portering Supervisor to lead our team of porters in delivering exceptional patient care and hospital operations. As a key member of the facilities department, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth running of our hospital.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising a team of porters, coordinating their activities, and ensuring that they are trained and equipped to complete their tasks effectively. You will also be a key point of contact within the portering service, providing assistance with day-to-day operations and maintaining high standards of performance.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to work alongside a supportive management team and benefit from outside support from the Education and Training department. You will be confident in your ability to lead a team, inspire others, and provide a caring and polite manner when interacting with patients and staff.

Main Responsibilities
  1. Supervise and coordinate the activities of porters, ensuring that they are trained and equipped to complete their tasks effectively.
  2. Provide assistance with day-to-day operations, including problem-solving and troubleshooting.
  3. Maintain high standards of performance, ensuring that the portering service is delivered to a consistently high standard.
  4. Work collaboratively with other departments, including education and training, to ensure seamless delivery of services.
  5. Lead by example, demonstrating a friendly and helpful manner when interacting with patients and staff.

Requirements
  • Effective social skills gained from dealing with the public.
  • Experience working in a hospital environment.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of manual handling and health and safety regulations.
  • Ability to communicate at all levels of the organisation.
  • Ability to abide by all relevant trust and portering policies and procedures.
  • Ability to lead, motivate, persuade and train staff.
Salary and Benefits

The salary for this role is approximately £32,000 - £40,000 per annum, depending on experience.
