**SECTION 1 - MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**: Staff Supervising and looking out for the wellbeing of logistics staff. Ensuring staff are undertaking their duties as required. Ensuring that equipment is used in accordance to agreed Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Ensuring that staff follow safe systems of work for all tasks whilst observing infection control principles including bare below the elbows and wearing appropriate PPE.

Monitoring attendance of staff and ensuring that absences are recorded. Responsible for the first stage of sickness absence review and Return to Work interviews. Responsible for ensuring staff adhere to the dress code policy. Responsible for ensuring that the annual appraisal process is carried out with all staff.

Ensuring all mandatory training is completed and recorded in a timely manner. Responsible for supporting new starters and assisting in carrying out the local induction and highlighting SOPs and escalating any needed changes to management. Responsible for training staff in the correct use of equipment, movements of patients etc. and on-job training thereafter.

Assisting in the interview and recruitment process using the Trust recruitment process. First line management of all staff, including dealing with conduct issues. Assisting staff with all general logistics duties when required. Ensuring porters take responsibility for the safe storage of all equipment when not being used Completing incident reports for any risks, incidents injuries or accidents to self or others within areas of responsibility in a timely manner in accordance with the Risk Management Policy.

Communicating to the wider logistics team about any learning from incidents. Daily walk round site checks and job allocation. Communication Demonstrating effective communication skills, dealing with staff, patients, and visitors in a polite, respectful and courteous manner. Assisting in establishing and maintaining communication channels between services e.g.

estates, linen, catering services, clinical teams, ward manager. Ensuring staff are given all relevant information through staff briefs, feedback from meetings and other sources of information Maintaining out of hours communication with clinical areas to keep them informed of all activity relating to the Logistics Service. Reporting any faults (maintenance or other) using the agreed systems within Portering, and then track the report until the fault has been addressed. Undertaking regular team huddles with staff relating to relevant, recent issues or updates.

Ensuring staff are always courteous and polite when undertaking their daily duties. Working with staff to ensure they are communicating clearly with people and are involving patients in their care where possible, as individual behaviour can make a significant difference to the patient experience. General Ensuring that data on the quality of work activities undertaken by the staff is captured and assisting the Logistics Manager with keeping to timescales/KPIs. Supporting staff with the removal of deceased patients from wards/ departments and transfer to mortuary in a discreet and sensitive manner, observing any religious or cultural requirements.

Ensuring all staff drive Trust vehicles safely with the welfare of staff, patients and other road users a priority. Ensuring that Trust vehicles remain clean and roadworthy, reporting any defects to the Transport Administrator. Liaising with the Deputy Portering Manager to submit orders for Supplies and stores. Assisting management in the handling of complaints relating to departmental services and gathering of information.

Completing risk assessments of an environment or staff member as required. To be aware of Fire Response Procedures and to ensure all staff are trained as part of the response. SYSTEMS AND EQUIPMENT Ensuring the correct use of equipment following safety guidelines. Referring to SOPs for the safe use of all equipment.

Ensuring equipment is maintained. Reporting any faulty equipment to the management team. Issuing and control of equipment. SECTION 2 - KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: Working in accordance with local and Trust Policies and Procedures.

Working on own initiative within well established procedures and practices, works with little supervision, refers to management when necessary. Maintaining effective levels of communication within the team/service/divisional team(s). Participating in team meetings. To be effective, clear and accurate when using all forms of communication.

Complying with Trust policy on confidentiality and data protection. Attending and completing mandatory Training. A working knowledge of all logistics services. Good communication skills and helpful manner SECTION 3 - EFFORT AND ENVIRONMENT: Ensuring all telephone and verbal enquiries from patients, public and staff are responded to in a prompt, polite, friendly and courteous manner.
