Purpose of the Role

The purpose of this role is to provide creative social and emotional mental health support to children and young people aged 8-19 years old. Many of the children we support are from marginalized backgrounds, have experienced adverse circumstances, are in care, or struggle to regulate their emotions.

Main Responsibilities

As part of a 24-week SEMH programme, we cover aspirations, personal development, and citizenship to support young people to remain in education, promote positive and healthy choices, and reduce risks associated with anti-social behaviour, social isolation, and family breakdown.

Key Requirements
  • A recognized qualification in Youth Work or an equivalent level 3+ qualification in Advice & Guidance, or a minimum of 3 years experience working with disengaged young people facilitating youth work, mentoring, advice, or guidance.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and presentation skills.
  • Experience in delivering youth initiatives focusing on good relations, citizenship, and personal development.
  • Experience of working with the community and voluntary sector.
  • Individual commitment to addressing the needs of the most socially excluded young people and those not in education, training, or employment.
  • A current, clean driving license with access to own vehicle.
  • Proven track record in supporting children and young people to become more optimistic about their lives.
  • Experience of using evaluation tools/outcome measures to monitor the impact of youth work.
  • Experience of using Microsoft Word, Dropbox, and Zoom.
